The Reserve

By invitation only. A small circle of members who lock in $18.99 a jar for as long as they stay.

The Reserve isn't listed in the shop. I open new places a few at a time, so request yours now and I'll invite people in the order they ask.

Most nut butter on the shelf is cut with palm oil, seed oils or sugar. It has to be, to survive months in a warehouse and a truck. Mine isn't, because it doesn't go in a warehouse or a truck. I drive it to your house.

I'm Ed. I make macadamia nut butter by hand in Ovilla, in batches small enough that I know how every one of them turned out. The Reserve is the circle of people who get every batch first, at a price that stays put.

Why places are limited

I make every jar myself, alongside a full-time job. I only open a new place when I know I can keep making every jar properly. That's the whole reason there's a list, and it's why places don't stay open. When one opens, I invite the next person who asked.

Your price stays locked

A single jar in the shop is $22. A Reserve place is $18.99 a jar, locked for as long as you stay a member. Macadamia prices move. Yours doesn't. Skip a month, pause, or cancel whenever you like, and the price is still waiting if you stay.

Members get

  • $18.99 a jar, locked. The price you join at is the price you keep.
  • Free delivery to your door, anywhere within 20 miles of Ovilla — including Red Oak, Midlothian, Waxahachie, Cedar Hill, DeSoto and Duncanville — or within 20 miles of DFW Airport (Irving, Grapevine, Euless, Bedford, Hurst, Coppell) on Tuesdays through Thursdays. Delivery details.
  • First access to new flavors before they're listed publicly, including the holiday lineup.
  • A guarantee that's actually a guarantee — see below.

Request your place

Tell me who you are and the flavor you'd start with. There's no payment and no commitment now. When a place opens, I'll email you a private link, and you'll have a few days to say yes before I move to the next person.

I'll only use your details to reach you about The Reserve. No spam, and no payment now.

The guarantee

Try your first jar. If you don't love it, tell me and I'll refund you in full — and you keep the jar. I'm not going to ask you to mail food back to me. If it isn't for you, I'd rather you had a free jar and gave me an honest opinion than a subscription you quietly resent.

Who this is for

You read ingredient lists. You've been buying the twelve-dollar almond butter and you're bored of it. You'd rather buy food from a person than a warehouse. And you live close enough to Ovilla or DFW Airport that I can drive it to you.

Who this isn't for

If you want the cheapest nut butter, this isn't it. The grocery store wins that one every time. This costs more because macadamias cost more, and because a person is making it instead of a machine.

Want to taste it first?

Fair enough. Buy a single jar at $22 from the Shop page, no commitment. If you love it, come back and request your place.

About the person making it

My name is Ed Barros. I live in Ovilla. I make this in my own kitchen, in small batches, and my name is on the jar because if it's bad, that's my problem to fix.

Questions

How do places work?
The Reserve isn't listed in the shop. Request a place with your name, ZIP and a flavor. When a place opens, I invite people in the order they asked and send you a private link to join. Requesting is free and you can drop off the list any time.

How long until a place opens?
I add places as fast as I can keep making every jar properly, so I can't promise a date. I'll tell you the moment one opens for you.

Can I subscribe to more than one flavor?
Yes, and members do. Each flavor is its own $18.99 subscription, and they arrive together in the same delivery.

Is this really local only?
Yes. Texas cottage food law means I can't ship — I can only sell in person or deliver it myself to Texas residents. That's not a limitation I'm working around. It's the reason it's fresh.

What if I'm outside those delivery areas?
Delivery beyond 20 miles from Ovilla or DFW Airport carries a $4.99 fee. Email me at kitchen@edbarros.com and we'll arrange it. If you're elsewhere in Texas we can usually work something out. If you're outside Texas, I can't sell to you — state law, not preference.

What if I want to skip a month?
Skip it, pause it, or cancel it. No contract, no phone call, and you can do all of it yourself from your account.

How long does a jar last?
Most people finish an 8oz jar in three to four weeks.

Is it really made in a home kitchen?
Yes, and Texas requires me to tell you so. I'm registered under Texas Cottage Food Law, UID #17715.

Made in a home kitchen under Texas Cottage Food Law, not subject to state inspection. Texas Cottage Food UID #17715. Contains tree nuts (macadamia).
